GAME OVER... Continue?

I think this image is a good summation of the event. We needed a lot of energy because we raised a lot. This year we raised $773.11!! Thank you to everyone who donated, we wouldn't have gone 27 hours without you. We did 27 out of 30 hours which is pretty damn close to our goal, but I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand we didn't get to our goal, but had we gone to 30 hours you likely would have seen my death live on air. So I am happy I am still alive to type this and will be able to host another marathon next year, and heck $773.11 will buy a LOT of games for those kids.

To everyone who won prizes, they will be shipped out to you tomorrow. Thank you so much.

We unfortunately had a ton of prizes that were not auctioned off, so we are doing a variety of things with what we have left. Some have been bundled together and given to those who donated and we leveled up a couple of the won prize packs. Some may end up on eBay in the next little while and the money will be donated to child's play, if and when they do we will be providing links here and via twitter. Others will be saved for next year.

If you haven't had enough of people playing video games to raise money for children, our competitor's BossBattles are still going strong. Check them out: http://bossbattles.org/ I wanted to beat them so bad, and it was pretty close for a while, overnight there were periods we were ahead of them by about a margin of $100. But the better team won, and in the end the children won the most.

I would like to thank our sponsors again. A&C Games in Toronto donated a cool prize pack and rented us a bunch of stuff. If you like the sort of games we were playing and live around Toronto check them out. Also Hairy Tarantula donated a few different prize packs, so a big thanks to them. Again if you are in Toronto and like board games, comics and other geekery check out one of their three locations. And I would also like to thank the cast and crew over at Todd & The Book of Pure Evil for donating 5 prize packs. Everyone should watch their show, I really enjoy it and really hope it gets renewed for another season (there's actually a group on facebook rooting for that, so go join it). And to everyone else who helped advertise us and put up posters. Check them all out on the sponsors page.

Finally I was so pleased with our results that I have decided we should do this next year, unless something comes up between now and then that prevents it. If you would like to watch or participate next year add us to twitter or email us NoPauseFundraiser (at) gmail. (dot) com and we will send out updates when they happen next year.

Thanks everybody. I hope you all have a great holiday season and have a great new years.

24 Hours Away

I can't believe in nearly exactly 24 hours from the time I posted this we will be going live across the intertubes. The crew and I have been working so hard to get this to be great. There's a couple last minute things to do before we beam our signal out but fear not, they are only minibosses and we've got a couple extra lives to spare.

I want to take this opportunity to remind everybody that we are still running our "spread the word" contest. Want a "Todd & The Book of Pure Evil" prize pack? Of course you do! Well it's really easy to win. All you have to do is tweet about us and include @NoPauseMarathon or share our facebook event on your wall and then email NoPauseFundraiser@gmail.com with the link to your facebook page. Each tweet and link will earn you 1 entry per day. Since the contest ends tomorrow 1 hour into our marathon, you can still get 4 entries. Chances of winning are stupidly high right now. So tweet, spam and win!

Tomorrow our 2 channels will be going up, but if you want to bookmark them now here's the links.

Oh, I nearly forgot. I'm issuing a challenge. If we get $100 (that's only $70 at the time of this post) by the time we start the broadcast tomorrow, I will wear a monocle for the first hour. Want to see my play video games like a gentleman while cussing like a sailor? Of course you do.

Holy Swag!

I am sure many of you are rushing around getting all your gifts together into a mighty pile, ready to be wrapped and distributed. Well so are we here at No Pause HQ, and what a pile of loot it is! We've just updated our prizes page with our latest haul of prizes

I'm really excited about a couple of these prizes in particular...

We've got a hand-painted Punch Out! matryoshka doll
Photobucket

We've got hand-made crochetted Ninja Turtles and Mushrooms...

We've got a couple prize packs donated to us from the good folks over at Hairy Tarantula in Toronto.

And we helped clean an anonymous donor's swag closet out, so we made a few new bundles and levelled up a couple of the bundles we already had.

With only 2 days to the event left I am really happy to have all this stuff ready for you all. I thought we already had some really cool prizes but the pig just keeps on getting sweeter. Remember we're going to be auctioning off the big stuff and holding draws for the smaller stuff. So watch, donate, and get swag!

Super Secret Reveal

I've teased you good folks for weeks about our super secret grand prize. And your patience will be rewarded. I've decided to eschew the game in lieu of all the other things that have to get done before the 18th. So here it is...

The much held secret grand prize is... A Distant Worlds 2 poster and CD signed by Nobuo Uematsu and Arnie Roth. This is a limited edition Distant Worlds II poster numbered 472 of 2000, so not only is this a very limited print, it is also signed! I nearly died when Zack first told me about this, and nearly died again when I opened the poster tube. So I hope you are gasping for air right now!

If you happen to not know who Nobuo Uematsu is, I can safely say you've heard his work. He composed the scores for the majority of the games in the Final Fantasy series, as well as worked on the soundtrack for games like Chrono Trigger, Blue Dragon, and Smash Bros Brawl.

Arnie Roth is the conductor of the Distant Worlds tour and has worked on many games for Square-Enix along side Nobuo Uematsu. He is also a Grammy award winner.

We are honoured to have such an amazing prize to auction off for the children. A giant thanks goes out to Arnie Roth, Nobuo Uematsu, and AWR Music. I personally didn't have a chance to attend but I've heard the Distant Worlds tour is a must for any die hard Final Fantasy fanatic. Go check it out if it's performing near you. http://www.ffdistantworlds.com/

Updates and Prizes and Teasers- Oh my!

So if you've been watching this blog, you may have seen there's been some work done on it tonight. You may not have. After a long day of canvassing and running around picking things up, I've come back and instead of relaxing, instead of studying, instead of writing either of my two upcomming essays, I've worked on the blog. Why? Because I love you all and want you to know it. I've worked on a couple of the background pages, updated some info and made some new additions.

Among them we now have a team page. Been wondering who we are? Probably not, but now you can know some "biographical" information about us. Also we now have a prizes page, and what a page it is! It's already got a bunch of stuff on there. You didn't think I was slacking off all this time did you? There's a bunch of great stuff on there, and there will only be more shortly. We got a few more additions to make to it once we get the stuff. So keep an eye on it. Among a few items that I've scraped together and previously announced I'd like to take this opportunity to announce two new prizes...

A&C Games has donated a prize pack of delicious swag. Two NES games, a T-Shirt, and a Fallout 3 artbook.

Anne over at Koyama Press has donated 2 copies of their new book, LEPOS. LEPOS: The Primary Invasion chronicles the unreleased game, LEPOS. 66 beautiful pages of art, screenshots and more!

And to wrap up this blog post, I would like to announce that we are going to announce our big super secret drool-worthy prize tomorrow. I have realized that within the next two weeks I have plenty of work to do and honestly I am dying holding this secret in. So tune in tomorrow!

Prize Update

Today was a good day. Why? Because we got more prizes for you fine folks.

The great people over at the TV show "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil" have donated 5 T-shirts and posters to us! If you haven't seen the show go watch it. It airs on SPACE network in Canada every Wednesday @ 9pm. I really like it (and not just because Jason Mewes and my cousin Bill Turnbull are in it [HI, BILL!]). Check out http://www.toddandthebookofpureevil.com/ for more info about the show.

Also, though I won't tell you what's in it yet, I can tell you that the SUPER SECRET AMAZING PRIZE is on it's way to No Pause HQ. So if you are reading this, and you haven't yet add us to facebook or twitter or both do that RIGHT NOW! Click here and here and do it. We are so close to reaching 200 people and beginning the game! If you are confused what I am talking about read the last post.

The No Pause Super Awesome Secret Announcement Game!!!

So now I just feel silly, way to make me put my foot in my mouth universe. Right after I posted that there may not be any big news for a while I got some amazing news and a lot of you are going to be really psyched to hear it. But this is news so big that no tiny tweet, pesky status update or little blog post would do it justice. So let's have some pre-marathon fun and play a game! I will make our incredible announcement once someone wins the game. All I am going to say for now is this is an amazing prize that I cannot believe we get to auction off during our marathon!

Once we have a total of 200 people combined between facebook attendees and twitter followers I will start posting one hint a day on our twitter. I will continue to post hints daily until someone guesses correctly. Once correctly guessed I will announce our secret announcement on our blog / twitter, and maybe the winner will get a prize.

Rules:
  1. You must be a follower of @NoPauseMarathon on twitter.
  2. You get only one guess per day.
  3. You must include @NoPauseMarathon AND #NPSecret in your tweet.
So get your friends to add us to to twitter and facebook, and let the games BEGIN!

Not dead, just plotting.

With just a few weeks left before marathon there's lots of stuff the team and I are working on. We are committed to this being amazing. But because it's a busy time of year for everyone at times the blog may be feeling a little sparse and might go a bit without an update. We got a bunch of cool people we are talking to but I don't want to announce anything too early just in case it doesn't pan out. Think of it this way it only means a bigger better announcement when it eventually happens. This project is my second priority, the first is my class work (which is burying me in essays for the next few weeks), and third is food. So follow us on twitter: NoPauseMarathon and join the facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=174382075910219. The more people I see following and attending the more pressure there is to not let you down! So do it before your friends do so you'll be the cool one who liked us first.
